Crit Gate skill · for Claude
An expert design crit, inside Claude.
Ask Claude to review a page, a screen or UI code. It checks it against the same UX rules Crit Gate uses in Figma and tells you what to fix, with the new copy ready to ship.
Lite is free and has the 24 core UX rules; the full 164 are coming soon. Works in Claude Code and the Claude apps.
You: review http://localhost:8800/
## Crit: Irreplaceable home (/) A specific landing page with a playable demo in the hero. The weak spots are the pricing cards and fine print that carries meaning. 1. major · GRO-05 · d102 (Pro card "Get notified") The Pro button doesn't say what you'll be notified about. Why: people expect to subscribe, and think checkout is broken. (lens: business) Fix: name the state on the button and the card. Copy: "Get notified when Pro opens" 2. minor · CORE-04 · d103 (Team price) "from 3" doesn't say 3 of what. Copy: "/designer/month, billed yearly · 3 designers minimum"
How it works
Three steps, no new tool to learn.
- Add it onceUnzip it into
~/.claude/skills/in Claude Code, or upload the zip in the Claude app where your plan allows custom skills. - Ask in plain words"Review localhost:3000/pricing", "Crit the sign-up in src/app/signup", or a screenshot with "is this ready to ship?"
- Get the critClaude captures the page at phone and desktop width, measures what can be measured, and reviews the rest against the rules.
164 rules in 8 packs
What it checks.
Core UX, behavioral science, craft and the AI-made look on every screen. The other packs join only when the screen needs them, so a settings page isn't judged like a pricing page.
- Core UX24 rules · in LiteBasics every screen needs, AI or not.
- Behavioral50 rulesBehavioral science and cognitive psychology: how people notice, decide, remember and act, and the dark patterns that exploit it.
- Craft & polish18 rulesThe details that make a screen feel finished: content that holds up at its worst, depth, type, touch and motion.
- AI-made look12 rulesThe defaults generated UI falls into: stock gradients and glows, glass and blobs, identical card rows, placeholder content and AI-sounding copy.
- AI UX18 rulesHow AI features act, admit uncertainty, ask for consent and recover. From the Irreplaceable AI UX checklist.
- Onboarding16 rulesFirst-run, sign-up and activation: getting new users to their first success fast, with less asked of them.
- Growth16 rulesLanding pages, pricing, checkout and sign-up: clear value, one call to action, honest proof and less friction.
- RTL10 rulesRight-to-left screens: Hebrew, Arabic, Persian. On by default when the screen has right-to-left text.
- Measured, not guessedin Lite and fullText contrast, text size, tap targets, orphan words, missing alt text, controls a screen reader can't tell apart, links that go nowhere, and what floats over the content on a phone.

Questions
Before you add it.
- How is this different from Crit Gate for Figma?
- Same rules and the same method. The skill reviews code and live pages inside Claude; the plugin reviews design files, pins each finding on its layer and applies fixes on the canvas. Many teams will want both: one before handoff, one before release.
- Does my code or page go anywhere new?
- No. The skill is a set of instructions and rules that runs in your own Claude session. The capture script runs on your machine.
- What do I need?
- Claude Code, or a Claude app plan that allows custom skills. For live page captures, Playwright in your project (
npm i -D playwright). - Can my team change the rules?
- Yes. They're plain text files. Add your own rules in the same format and the skill reviews against them too.
